Script Writer

The screenplay for GRAFFITI BOY <3 GEURRILLA GIRL won the Moondance International Film Festival 2018, came second at the RheelHeART Film and Screenplay Festival 2018 in Toronto, was an official selection at the EIFA (The European Independent Film Award) 2018, the Global Film Festival in Los Angeles 2018, a Preliminary Finalist at the CWA (Creative World Awards) 2018, and special nomination at The Monkey Bread Tree Awards 2018, where judges said, “There’s a great world in this script, and it should be filmed!”

LIKE SPIDERMAN WITH SPRAY CANS, SCALING BUILDINGS AND JUMPING TRAINS, WHEN A YOUNG STREET ARTIST DISCOVERS HIS BEST FRIEND HAS BEEN MURDERED, HE MUST BATTLE HIS NEMESIS TO SOLVE THE MURDER.

“As a rich portrait of a fascinating sub-culture, intriguing murder mystery, and penetrating character study, this is a compelling and important script with no few surprises. The world CKR and his colleagues Manny and DCON occupy is unique, subversive, and now possibly dangerous. The script deserves credit for showing us the artists behind the graffiti, in all their vulnerability and humanity. In some cases, it seems that pain itself is fuelling their art.” Los Angeles Script Site: The Black List.

Poet

Tara’s largest poetry installation can be found at Sidcot School in North Somerset where she was the poet in residence for four years, introducing queer and intersectional feminist texts to the curriculum. Her aim was to bring poetry to all the departments of the school: maths, science, art—not just English.

Working with the Art & Ceramics department, she developed an idea to create a large installation for one of the external walls on campus. Creating workshops with groups of art students, she encouraged them to think along the lines of inspirational speeches from some of our great historical orators like Martin Luther King, Kae Tempest and Emmeline Pankhurst; speeches that inspired humanity and freedom. The students were asked to think about how they might impact their own legacy. The students then wrote poems to express these sentiments, and Tara worked these into the poem, ‘Freedom of You.
